Club Loreley - Miss Loreley
Julia Henninger - Miss Loreley 2010-2011
Claudia Warrington - Mini Miss Loreley 2010-2011
Grüßt Euch! Hello everyone! My name is Julia Henninger, I am 17 years old and it is my greatest honour to be your Miss Loreley for the 2010- 2011 season.
Time has just flown by. I can remember watching the pageant as a little girl and saying “That’s going to be me some day,” and here I am! For those who don’t know me, I am a third generation member of Club Loreley. My Oma and Opa, Ruth and Heinz Henninger have been members for 45 years and my parents Holly and Tom Henninger are also dedicated members. My family has been very involved in our club; my Oma and Opa are starting members of the Loreley Singers and were long-time Club Loreley board members. Both my Opa and Dad are past presidents. My mom has just stepped down as the Loreley Youth Dancers’ Chairperson but is still president of the Karneval Group. Their involvement and dedication to the club has definitely rubbed off on me.
I dance with the Loreley Youth Dancers as a senior and I also teach the Kindertots, our youngest group. Outside of the club, I attend Eastdale Collegiate where I am involved in many different things. I am on the Eastdale Dance Team, Basketball Team, Arts Council, Green Team Environmental Club and I am in the Musical. This year, we completed our production of The Music Man. This summer, I am going to be very busy. I have accepted a job with The City of Oshawa as a Summer Dance Camp Counselor. Also, I have been nominated to be a part of the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth program. Students from all over the world come together and tour the United States and then meet at the United Nations in New York City to discuss world issues.
Club Loreley has always been a part of my life and I am so happy that I have achieved my life long dream of becoming Miss Loreley. In addition to this amazing honour, it is my great pleasure to announce myself to you as Miss Fiesta! In 37 years of being involved with Fiesta Week, our club has only won the title once and I am so proud to bring it home to our German heritage this year.
At the Queen’s Ball, held June 5th, I had a life changing experience meeting all of the other beautiful Pavilion Queens and I was ecstatic when I won the title of Miss Fiesta and also Miss Congeniality which was voted by the girls. This whole experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I plan to take advantage of it every minute. I am so excited about Fiesta week where I can visit all the pavilions (in a limousine I might add, courtesy of the Oshawa Folk Arts Council) and represent both my culture and the entire Fiesta experience.
I want to thank each and every one of our members for being so dedicated to our club because without you, I would not be writing this letter as Miss Loreley or Miss Fiesta. You are what keeps our club going and I hope, as both Miss Fiesta and Miss Loreley, I can spread the Fiesta spirit that our club so definitely has to the rest of our community.Have a wonderful and safe Fiesta Week and I look forward to participating in the Club’s events for the 2010-2011 season.
Sincerely,
Julia Henninger
